This policy explains what KilowattCost ("we", "us") collects when you use https://kilowattcost.com, why, and what control you have.

The short version

  • We do not require an account and we do not ask for your name or email to use any calculator.
  • Everything you type into a calculator is processed in your browser and is never transmitted to us or stored on a server.
  • We use analytics and advertising, which set cookies and collect limited technical data. Details below.
  • We do not sell personal information.

Information you provide

Calculator inputs. Figures you enter — mileage, tariffs, appliance wattage and so on — are used only to compute a result on your own device. They are not sent to our servers, not logged, and not retained after you leave the page.

Email. If you contact us, we receive your email address and message. We use these solely to reply, and retain them only as long as needed for that correspondence.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider and analytics record limited technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page and pages viewed. This is used to keep the site running, diagnose faults, and understand which pages are useful.

Cookies and advertising

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them for two purposes:

  • Essential: remembering preferences such as your unit or currency selection.
  • Advertising and analytics: set by third parties, described below.

Google AdSense and third-party advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertising.

Where we rely on consent — for example, personalised advertising — you may withdraw it at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Exercising these rights will never result in discriminatory treatment.

Controlling cookies yourself

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking cookies will not prevent any calculator on this site from working, since the calculations run locally on your device.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data retention and security

We retain email correspondence only as long as necessary to handle your enquiry. The site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
